WHEN MUSIC BECOMES A LANGUAGE

 

Born in a family of musicians and artists, Jaee had the privilege of listening to her grandfather and parents sing keertans, natyageet, gazals, and Indian classical music. Several family members play musical instruments. During her teenage years, music jam sessions were a common occurrence in her
parents' home.

Although Jaee chose to pursue a career in Advertising and Graphic Design, she is keenly aware of the nuances of music as an art form. Inspired by soulful singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Suraiya, Cesaria Evora, Edith Pilaf and Maysa, Jaee finds great joy in creating an emotional experience for the listener through her clear and expressive voice. She has recorded songs in Hindi, Marathi, English, Latin, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

"When one is able to connect with the emotions in the lyrics, language is no longer a barrier," she says.
